As a Board-Certified Global Technical Director of PPD's Central Laboratory, the responsibilities included below:
Provide leadership in scientific and technical consultation and laboratory testing for multiple functional areas.
Contribute to the scientific strategy and implementation to support pharmaceutical-sponsored programs.
Oversee expansion and growth of lab programs and provides leadership to one or more sites, departments or regions in global labs.
Integrate operational processes, business development, research & development and quality assurance functions for optimal performance within the labs.
Location: Greater Cincinnati, OH(office-based)
Education and Experience:
PhD, MD or DrPH required and previous experience as a technical laboratory director leading a multi-departmental clinical laboratory in a high volume (CAP/CLIA) hospital or independent reference laboratory environment.
The ability to meet CAP requirements as high complexity laboratory director required; Current CAP certification preferred
The ability to meet requirements for New York State Department of Health and obtain Certificates of Qualification (CofQ)
Leadership experience required
Or an equivalent combination of education, training and professional experience that provides the individual with the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
AP/CP Board-Certified Pathologist with subspecialty training in hematopathology
Current NYSDOH Certificates of Qualification (CofQ) for clinical laboratory testing
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Thorough knowledge of CAP, CLIA, & New York State regulatory requirements
Broad knowledge of laboratory operations to include expertise in method validation and lab developed tests
Excellent verbal and written communication/interpersonal skills including presentation skills
Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting and fiscal management preferred
Demonstrated strategic planning skills
In-depth global and cultural awareness
Strong organizational agility and demonstrated drive for results
Strong coaching and mentoring skills
Management Role:
Directs through lower management levels. Has responsibility for managing a function that includes multiple related departments. In some instances may be responsible for a functional area (as determined by executive management) and not have subordinate supervisors or employees. May manage employees across multiple regions.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in an office and/or laboratory with exposure to electrical office equipment.
Occasional travel within the United States, occasional international travel.
Exposure to biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms. Rare exposure to skin and lung irritants, radiation, toxic materials and hazardous waste.
Personal protective equipment required frequently, such as protective eyewear, garments and gloves.
Exposure to fluctuating and/or extreme temperatures on rare occasions.
Physical Demands:
Frequently stationary for 6-8 hours per day.
Repetitive hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists.
Moderate mobility required.
Occasional crouching, stooping, bending and twisting of upper body and neck.
Light to moderate lifting and carrying (or otherwise moves) objects including luggage and laptop computer with a maximum lift of 15-20 lbs.
Ability to access and use a variety of computer software developed both in-house and off-the-shelf.
Ability to communicate complex information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
Frequently interacts with others, relates sensitive information to diverse groups both internally & externally.
Ability to apply abstract principles to solve complex conceptual issues. Requires multiple periods of intense concentration.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
